The Visiting@UVT Grants Program is divided into two components: Visiting Lecturer and Visiting Researcher, depending on the targeted practical activities. Eligibility criteria are determined based on the type of grant and the specific profile of each host Faculty, and include:

  • International visibility of the candidate’s academic profile (authored or edited publications, peer-review activity);
  • International recognition of the candidate (grants, scholarships, membership in professional associations, academic awards);
  • Teaching achievements of the candidate (course development, coordination of student activities such as volunteering, symposia, summer schools; teaching-related awards).

 

During the implementation of the Visiting@UVT grant, the beneficiaries are provided with:

  • An office within the host Faculty/DPPD
  • Unlimited access to the facilities of the University and the host Faculty/DPPD
  • Free access to UVT’s electronic resources
  • An E-UVT institutional account
  • Free accommodation in the university campus
  • Reimbursement of a round-trip journey between the place of origin and Timișoara
  • A monthly grant of 6000 RON

The selection process for beneficiaries of a Visiting@UVT grant

The selection of teaching staff/researchers for a Visiting@UVT grant is carried out at the level of each faculty within UVT or DPPD, based on an application file.

The application file should include:

  • Application form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • List of publications
  • One-page description of the candidate’s teaching/research profile
  • One-page motivation letter (detailing the interest in collaboration and the benefits for the host institution)
  • Two course proposals / one research proposal – including: title, abstract, topics, objectives, methods, expected outcomes, and a selective bibliography (maximum 4 pages)
  • Letter of acceptance from the host Department/Faculty (recommended)

The evaluation of applications will be conducted:

  • At the faculty level: by a committee from the host Faculty, composed of the Dean, the Vice Dean for International Relations, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs/Research, and the Head of the host Department. The number of members may vary depending on the administrative structure of the Faculty. The committee is approved by the Faculty Council.
General obligations for Visiting@UVT grant holders

Each Visiting@UVT fellow must comply with the following general obligations:

  • Acknowledge (co-)affiliation with UVT in every publication, conference participation, event organization, project proposal, or patent obtained during or as a result of the grant period.
  • Notify UVT of any change in professional status from the time of application to the moment of signing the financial agreement.
  • Refrain from entering into any study contract (at any level), employment contract, or any other written agreement with UVT during the entire period from grant selection to the end of the awarded grant.
  • Actively participate in UVT’s academic community activities and events and support the academic initiatives of the host Faculty and Department.
  • Submit a detailed monthly activity report to the program coordinator for each month covered by the Visiting@UVT grant.
  • Deliver a public presentation of the Visiting@UVT experience and stay in Timișoara, open to UVT colleagues and students.
  • Act as a UVT Ambassador at their home universities/institutes and promote the Visiting@UVT grants program within those academic communities.

Specific Obligations for Visiting Lecturer Grant

  • Teach at least one course, including both lectures and seminars, which must run over a full semester or modular structure (course proposal, development, teaching, evaluation).
  • Organize at least one additional activity (course/seminar/round table/lecture) and/or engage in co-supervision, thesis coordination, volume editing, etc., as outlined in the application and final contract signed with UVT.

Specific Obligations for Visiting Researcher Grant

  • Carry out research activities in accordance with the proposal included in the application and the contract signed with UVT.
  • For short-term grants: submit at least one article for publication (in Web of Science or Scopus indexed journals, depending on the main research areas of the host Faculty/DPPD).
  • For long-term grants: submit at least two articles for publication (Web of Science/Scopus) or book chapters with internationally recognized academic publishers.
  • If collaborating with UVT colleagues, contribute to the submission of at least one Horizon Europe 2020 or equivalent project proposal.
